Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 2929.37 & 2929.38, the Knox County Jail has established a reimbursement program for convicted inmates.  Any prisoner who has been convicted of an offense is required to pay all or part of the costs of confinement.

Self initiated non-emergency request that require a Co-Payment

  1. Medical staff assessment     $5.00
  2. Physician sick call                $10.00
  3. Dental Clinic                       $10.00
  4. Pharmacy handling fee        $5.00
  5. OTC Medicines                    $.10/ per pill

Definitions - These co-pays will be deducted from your commissary

Inmate Processing Fee

All sentenced inmates booked into and released from the Knox County Jail will be assessed an inmate processing fee (IPF) of $10.0 to assist in defraying the cost of intake processing and release.  The fee will be deducted from your commissary account.

Inmate Visitations

  • Visitation for inmates are held on Wednesday and Saturdays

  • A positive picture ID (Drivers license, state ID, etc.) is required to visit an inmate.

  • Call for the inmate's scheduled visit time.

  • Visitors can only visit an inmate once every seven days.

Property for inmates

Only the following items may be brought to the Knox County Jail with the person at the time of incarceration. All items must be in original packages and unopened.

  • Cash or money order *No Personal checks
  • 4 pair white socks
  • 4 pair underwear
  • 4 white t-shirts, crew neck and no pockets
  • 4 white bras, for female inmates only, no wires or metal
  • Packages for inmates are not accepted by the Knox County Sheriff's Office
